THE ORIGINS
Founded in 1972 in Biella, Lanificio Piemontese entered the market by producing high-quality fabrics for the women’s fashion industry. In 1996, the company underwent a radical reorganization from its original 1970s structure, with the goal of establishing itself within the international fashion industry. As part of this transformation, it became one of the first wool mills to adopt jacquard weaving techniques, introducing a distinctive creative style to its textile production.
TODAY
Lanificio Piemontese has established itself as a leading producer of luxury fabrics and has become a go-to supplier for top international brands. Under new management, the company has transformed its creative identity by complementing its traditional products with a line of innovative, cutting-edge fabrics: jacquards, fil coupé, damasks, and tapestries. The archive, housed in the company’s historic halls, serves as a source of inspiration for creating new designs. A connection to the past, yet always with an eye toward the future.
JOINING GRUPPO PIACENZA
In November 2020, the Piacenza 1733 Group, a historic leader in the creation of high-quality fabrics and apparel, acquired Lanificio Piemontese, a Biella-based company renowned for its excellence in the wool industry.
A convergence of goals that guided the Piacenza 1733 Group’s decision to acquire a company with which it shares values and traditions, and which is part of a growth strategy focused on expanding its product offerings and internationalization.
THE NEW HEADQUARTERS
In 2022, following a series of acquisitions by the Piacenza Group, Lanificio Piemontese relocated to the administrative headquarters of Lanificio F.lli Cerruti, which had been in operation since 1881 and was designed in 2006 by Vico Magistretti. It is a modern space where industry and nature coexist, giving rise to a modern and contemporary architectural style.
